Gold. Such a beautiful colour. Used to define all the riches of the world, the royals made sure that not only their bodies but their homes were decked out in gold. Perhaps it was to show their worth, perhaps it was merely because they liked the expensive jewels. Or perhaps they simply liked the colour. But whatever the reason gold was undenyably a sought after material. It made Kyena feel good in a way, to know that the colour sought after was the one that he possesed. His father had been a palomino, but out of all his children only Kye had taken the golden genes. Pehraps that was why his father loved him so, because he looked so much like him. Either way, kye was happy to posses the rare colour, he knew that he was probably the only one in these new lands to hold this colour, and in that knowledge he rejoiced. Not because he was better than anyone else, for that would be selfish to say such things. But because he was unique, he was not the same. Nor would he ever be.
The first thing he needed to do was to find a home, it was the first box on his mental check list that needed to be ticked off. He nodded to himself, he was the first light leader in these lands .. he knew that for when he walked through the lands they were untouched .. no equine scent was in any of the lands. They were by no means uninhabited, for smaller creatures such as rabbits and wrens inhabited them. But they had no lord .. no king. Thus this was another thing to be grateful for, he could choose the best land. The one he liked the best, his choices were not restricted by what was taken and what was not.
The lands were beauftiful, each of them held a unique beauty, yet .. for the moment none of them really called out to him. They were breathtaking to say the least, but there was nothing he could call home. But with each land he moved through ... he grew closer and closer towards the dark lands ... and even now there was some constricting grip upon him, as if warning him that he should stray no further... but he was curious. There was one land left, one land that he had heard talk of the wrens .. .it was called Cherry Tree Lake. Soon as he stepped into this land he could see why. Cherry Trees were dotted about this whole land, it was actually a rather beautiful sight. Have you ever tasted a wild cherry? You really should, they are most wonderous when they are grown without chemicals. Kye plucked one from the tree and ate it, the taste was delicious. Immediatly he hungered for more, but this was a temptation he resisted. Yes, this land would be his home .. not merely for the Cherry Trees but also for the clear lake that entwined its way through the land.
He flickered his ears back and forth, listening for the sound of another stallion, but none were heard. A smile touched his mug, then with a handsome movement he lifted his golden bodice into the sky, drumming at the air with his fore-pistons. It really was a handsome moment. His locks were caught in the breeze, it made the golden stallion look so much brighter and younger and more handsome than ever. Then a loud call interrupted the otherwise silent air, a hush fell over the land as all the creatures stopped to listen to the call. Then when it had finally cleared from the atmosphere and Kye had dropped back to his feet ... the whole land exploded with sounds of birds and animals. All rejoicing in the thought of a new king. A lord at last.
